Nail Problem: Minor Ingrown Nail Hand?

According to a friend at work, I have an minor ingrown nail. She suggested draining and cleaning the pus away with a needle and towel. I've done this, but my nail and the skin around it are still sensitive.

Will the pain go away with time or do I have to resort to going to the warm water soak home treatment, or lastly go to a doctor?Nail Problem: Minor Ingrown Nail Hand?
You can use the home treatment steps outlined here http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-t鈥?/a> to deal with the problem (it's for ingrown toenails, but the same treatment would apply to fingernails. Scroll down to the ';how to treat'; section).

If the nail is really only minorly ingrown, that should take care of it. If it's more severe, the home treatment may not help. In that case you will need to go to the doctor.
