Nail Polish Problem? Any Ideas? ?

So here's the problem...I like to make my own french tips by using a tooth pick and laying the nail polish across the top of my nails. The problem, is that although it's an even layer and isn't thick or thick nail polish, it never stays on. I use a clear top coat to make it look neat but the colored polish is easy to rub off, smears, and gets on things.

I use the same method on my toes and there's no problem

How do I prevent this from happening? Nail Polish Problem? Any Ideas? ?
you should bloww dry them for a few seconds then try itNail Polish Problem? Any Ideas? ?
its probably just cheap nail polish . you could get a specifc set where its for french tips at walmart maybe 10$ .

But its cheaper at the nail salon, here it's 6$ to do french tips.

cheaper than a good nail polish and french nail polish set and it stays on for about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks.
let your nails dry more. you can dry them faster if you put your fingers in a bowl of really cold water.
You can apply first coat to your nails let them dry for a minutes and then use the final touch with nail polish. It feels softer and not easily removeable.
It sounds like you're not letting it dry enough.
